Overview
The pharmacy module runs from receiving the order, through safety checking, picking, labelling and dispensing, with stock control and real-time notification built in.
Why it matters
The pharmacist is the last safety check before medication reaches a patient. Good software makes that check both faster and more reliable.
Real-time notification over MQTT
MorLuang uses MQTT for live updates. The pharmacy’s waiting-prescription badge updates the instant a physician places an order — no refreshing. When a prescription is dispensed, the count drops immediately. That removes the habit of repeatedly reloading the screen and speeds up the queue.
There is an automatic fallback: if the MQTT connection drops, the badge reverts to polling so it keeps working.
How it connects
Orders come from order entry. Dispensing data flows to eMAR for inpatients. Medication charges pass through the benefit engine for coverage calculation before reaching billing.
